
The Christian County Colonels rallied from a slow start to pick up a road win at Russellville Monday night. In a game that came down to the final moments, the Colonels were able to win for the fourth time in their last five games, nipping the Panthers 64-62.
The Colonels came out of the gate a little slow Monday night, as Russellville limited them to just six points in the first quarter, taking a 14-6 lead. Jordan Miles had five of the Colonels’ six points in the quarter.
Christian County got things running in a big way in the second, scoring 23 points, as the Colonels came storming back to take a 29-23 lead into the break. Darren Bigbee hit two big threes in the quarter to help get the Christian County offense rolling.
It was back to Russellville’s turn in the third quarter, as the Panthers battled their way back into the game. By the end of the quarter, everything was all knotted up at 41-41.
In the end, it would be the Colonels’ who did what was needed to pick up the win and hand the Panthers their tenth loss in the last eleven games. Christian County got a big 4th quarter from Derrell Bateman, who scored 12 points in the final eight minutes.
Bateman had another big game for Christian County, finishing the night with 25 points. Jordan Miles added 19. Prince Northington also hit double figures with 10.
Octavious McKeage was the leading scorer for Russellville with 19 points.
Christian County moves to 11-15 with the win. The Colonels are back on the court at home Tuesday night taking on the Owensboro Red Devils.
