For three quarters of the game Friday night, the Trigg County Lady Wildcats played pretty much even with the Ballard Memorial Lady Bombers. It’s just that there was this pesky little problem called the first quarter.

The Ballard Memorial Lady Bombers scored the first 17 points of the game Friday night and never looked back as they rolled past the Trigg County Lady Wildcats 54-37. The loss was the 15th in a row for the Lady Wildcats.

The Lady Bombers very nearly pitched a shutout in the opening quarter, allowing Trigg County just a 3-point field goal with 28 seconds left as Ballard Memorial held a 17-3 lead after the first eight minutes of the game.

Trigg County’s defense honed in on the Lady Bombers in the second quarter. The Lady Wildcats outscored Ballard 9-8 to trim the lead to 25-12 going into the half.

The Lady Wildcats had their best offensive quarter of the night in the third quarter, but they still could not make any headway to cut into the Ballard Memorial lead. The Lady Bombers extended the lead to 40-25 heading into the final quarter.

Again in the fourth, the two teams played fairly even, but after their slow start, that would leave the Lady Wildcats with too much of a deficit to overcome as the Lady Bombers took the 17-point win.

Trigg County falls to 3-23 with the loss. The Lady Wildcats will wrap up the regular season Saturday evening hosting Paducah Tilghman.
