Trigg County had a lead. Then blew the lead. Then regained the lead for a final time and held on for a 63-61 win over Todd County Central Friday at Wildcat Gym.

The win snapped a season-long seven-game losing streak for the Wildcats and was just their second win in 11 February games.

You never would have known it the way Trigg began the game with a 14-3 run as four starters hit the scoring column. The Wildcats built a 17-point lead in the quarter thanks to 10 of 14 shooting.

Caleb Fogle got the start for the Wildcats and scored 10 points in the opening quarter to spark the Trigg start.

Todd Central struggled early, shooting 2 of 14 in the first quarter and unable to get its leading scorer – Jamison Glass – on track.

The 6-6 senior came into the game averaging 26 points a night but was held without a field goal in the first 12 minutes. Part of that was the defensive scheme of Trigg that had Davaree Gude guarding Glass.

However, Gude left the game with 3:47 left in the first half with an ankle injury, and Trigg up 35-21. That’s when Glass went to work and scored 15 of Todd Central’s next 25 points as the Rebels battled from 13 down at halftime to lead 46-45 heading into the final eight minutes of play.

Keshawn Moore also helped spur the third quarter comeback with Glass, scoring 11 points in the third quarter and putting back a missed shot with 5:48 left for a 51-45 Todd lead.

Fogle responded with a 3-pointer and Jhaden Vaughn followed with a 3-point play to tie the game at 51 with 4:57 left.

After Todd pushed out to a 57-52 lead, Fogle again canned a triple and Vaughn followed with a bucket to tie the game for the third time with 1:51 left.

Up 61-59 with 10 seconds left, Timmy Williams hit Vaughn on a runout who capped the play with a dunk and a four-point Trigg lead. Glass added one last bucket with four seconds left for the final margin.

Glass finished with 27 points and 16 rebounds, while Moore added 20 points for the Rebels who outrebounded Trigg 36-29 and had 21 second-chance points.

Fogle’s 23 points was a career-high for Trigg’s junior guard. Vaughn added 21 points and 14 rebounds.

The win was only Trigg’s third in 19 games when allowing 60 or more points.

Both Todd (Hayden Strader) and Trigg (Jerimyah Shearer) were playing without starters with the postseason looming next week.

Todd County Central will play Logan County on Tuesday in the 13th District semifinals at Russellville High School.

Trigg County will play Livingston Central on Tuesday in the 5th District semifinals at Lyon County High School.
