It turned out to be a historic weekend in the pool for the Fort Campbell Falcons at the KHSAA state swim meet at the University of Kentucky. The Falcons had two entries make it to Lexington for the state championships and one of those made it to the finals of their event.
The Boys’ 200 Yard Medley Relay team of Brody Sharp, John Stultz, Jonah Weisbrich, and Luke Szody became the first entry in school history to reach the finals at the state championships Friday evening.
Earlier Friday, the Falcon quartet swam a 1:44.93 in their preliminary. That time, placed them 15th in the prelims and earned them the right to advance to the finals.

The group came up with an even better time in the finals, swimming a 1:44.54. The time placed them 15th for the state meet. St. Xavier took the 200 championship with a new state record time of 1:27.70. The team from Henry Clay was second.
Fort Campbell’s other entry at the state swimming championships was Jonah Weisbrich, who qualified in the Boys’ 100 Yard Breaststroke. Weisbrich swam a 1:01.96 in the preliminaries, placing him 21st, but did not qualify for the Friday night finals.
