Joiner’s Double-Double Leads Livingston Past Caldwell

Caldwell County’s girls got off to a good start on Senior Night against Livingston Central.

The Lady Tigers built a 9-4 lead after one quarter in the regular-season finale Friday at the CAB gym in Princeton.

However, the visiting Lady Cardinals used a 17-1 advantage in the second quarter to grab the upper hand and went on to post a 40-27 victory over Caldwell.

Livingston will take a 13-10 record into postseason play while the Lady Tigers are 8-21.

Victoria Joiner had 15 points and 17 rebounds to lead the Lady Cardinals. The game was stopped in the third quarter and Joiner was recognized for securing her 1,000th career rebound.

After going up 21-10 at halftime, Livingston seemed to have control of the contest, but the Lady Cardinals couldn’t completely put Caldwell away until late in the game.

Nyla Sykes led the Lady Tigers with eight points.

Friday’s meeting was the 100th all-time between the Lady Tigers and the Lady Cardinals.

Livingston has won the last three meetings. Caldwell won the four matchups prior to that.
The Lady Tigers still hold a 74-26 advantage all-time.

Caldwell will next face Hopkins County Central Monday night in the semifinals of the 7th District tournament in Madisonville.

Livingston’s girls will play Crittenden County Monday in the 5th District semifinals at Lyon County.
