A pretty good preseason debut for the University Heights Academy Blazers Tuesday afternoon. The Blazers, who are one of the teams expected to contend for the 2nd Region title, limited Trigg County to just two hits on their way to a 13-0 scrimmage win over the Wildcats.
Seven different Blazer pitchers saw one inning each on the mound. Six of those pitchers struck out two of the batters they faced in their one inning of work.
The Blazers scored in four of their six at-bats, capped off with six runs in the bottom of the 6th inning.
Ryan Luckey had a big day at the plate, going 4 for 4 with a double, a triple, and 3 RBIs. Cadence Gibson went 2 for 5 with a triple and 2 RBIs. Jackson Flynn was 1 for 4 with two runs knocked in.
Aidon Butts and Brayden Jones had one hit each for Trigg County.
The Wildcats had six pitchers see action on the mound during the scrimmage. Hayden Reynolds started on the hill, giving up a couple of runs and striking out four during his two innings of work.
