Has winning three straight Southeastern Conference games put Kentucky in position now to get a double-bye in the SEC Tournament in Nashville?

Maybe.

Could Kentucky still get at least a share of the SEC regular-season championship?

Maybe.

That’s just how crazy and wild the final week of SEC play could be.

Tennessee leads the league at 13-3 after winning at Alabama. South Carolina and Alabama are both 12-4 while Auburn and Kentucky are both 11-5. Florida is still in double bye contention that goes to the league’s top four teams with a 10-6 mark.

Kentucky hosts Vanderbilt Wednesday and plays at Tennessee Saturday. If the Cats win both games, they finish league play 13-5.

Tennessee has to play at South Carolina Wednesday. If the Vols lose and lose to UK, that makes them 13-5.

After playing Tennessee on Wednesday, South Carolina has to go to Mississippi State Saturday. Beating the Vols but losing at Mississippi State would leave South Carolina 13-5.

Alabama plays at Florida Tuesday and then hosts Arkansas Saturday. If the Gators beat Alabama and the Tide beats Arkansas, then Alabama is 13-5.

Auburn plays at Missouri and then hosts Georgia. The Tigers will be favored in both games and if they win them both they finish 13-5.

Florida finishes the season at Vanderbilt and it beats Alabama and Vanderbilt, it finishes 12-6.

So what are the odds Tennessee, Alabama, Kentucky, Auburn and South Carolina all end up 13-5? Not good. But it could happen.

However, the key for UK is to win out. If the Cats lose at Tennessee for a sixth league loss, they would need a lot of help to secure a double bye. Alabama and South Carolina would have to lose twice to get six losses and Auburn would have to lose a game it will be favored in to get a sixth loss.

Confused? Me too but if a lot of things fall in place Tuesday and Wednesday, it could make for an exciting/tense final day of SEC play on Saturday.

  1. You cannot make a Silk Purse out of a sow’s ear!!!!!

Try all you want, but this is a first-weekend team, and has been all season BECAUSE IT DOES NOT PLAY DEFENSE!!!!!

UK will play on Thursday against a team like Georgia, and if UK advances to Friday, it will play Tennessee again. Will it finish 0-3 against the hated Vols?

    Will any one care?

    1. Professor, you’re wasting your time trying to talk sense to 79 and Jimmy Jimmy. They are die hard, skirt wearing rah rahs who think we are going to be national champions and then beat the Boston Celtics.

        1. 79, beating Vandy is a given…a good high school team can do that. You hold onto that towel because as much as I would like to see us thump the Vols on Saturday, its not going to happen.

  2. Any true Kentucky fan is die hard. They’re not whiners that pretend to be fans. Cry after wins, gloat after loses, predict doom and gloom. I heard Tom Leach talk Monday morning about the affect that social media has on players. How scum like you jump on the net and spew your narcissistic bull manure. Jeff Sheppard knew to start Reed out early with a sports psychologist because of vermon like you. Another reason Reed won’t be back next year.

  3. That’s how much you know about me. You’re just ignorant. Cal won’t be gone. If there is still a true Justice System, Orange Man should be in jail. Barry will still be the Biggest underachieving crybaby of his lifetime.

  4. When the country hears you talk they say, "he’s from Kentucky". You are why other states say Kentucky is full of "stupid, inbred hicks". You’re pretending not to be a Trump backer. You sound like you could be his campaign manager. Cry, Lie, Whine.

  5. Barry, apparently you ain’t got nothing to do, just get on here and bad mouth about people on here. That’s not what this site is about, your entitle your opinion about the subject as we got ours.

    1. All entitled to their opinions. Agree Cats no reason to badmouth someone who disagrees with you

  6. The season will end just like all of them have ended since the 2015 inexcusable loss to Wisconsin. We will be early exits from both tournaments and finish will double digit losses AGAIN!!! The sports commentator will start talking about how the game has passed Calipari by and he will resign in shame. Calipari should have done the honorable thing like Williams and Coack K did. Rah rah rah!
