Not a bad start to the softball preseason Monday evening for the Christian County Lady Colonels. The Lady Colonels got a big game from freshman Jazmira Tejada as they rolled to an 8-1 scrimmage win on the road at Calloway County.
Tejada finished the evening 3 for 3 with a double and three RBIs in leading the Christian County attack.
The Lady Colonels jumped on top with a 3-run first inning and never trailed. Tejada had a two-run single in the inning.
After Calloway scored a run in the bottom of the fourth, Christian County added four more runs in the top of the 5th to make it 7-1. The Lady Colonels would add a run in the top of the seventh.
In addition to Tejada’s performance, Jayda Turner was 2-3 with a double and two RBIs. Christian County had a total of 10 hits in the game.
In the circle, Jordan Turner went four innings, giving up 1 run on 5 hits, walking none and striking out five. Christian County also got a solid effort from Gracie Harned, who went three hitless innings, walking none and striking out five.
