
The Heritage Christian Academy baseball team was shut out for the second time to start the season on Tuesday, falling 10-0 in five innings to hosts Webster County.
The Trojans won their opener behind five strong innings on the mound from Cooper Logan. Logan struck out nine and allowed only two hits, one each to HCA’s Caden Gresham and Cadyn Travis.
Webster County opened the scoring in the bottom of the first on an RBI single by Ryan Nance and doubled the advantage on Pryce Pearcy’s double to center. Pearcy singled in two more runs in the second, capping a four-run inning for a 6-0 lead.
RBI singles by Canaan Taylor and Jackson Edens highlighted a three-run third, and the Trojans finished things with a run in the bottom of the fifth.
Bradley Boyd took the loss for the Warriors, allowing nine earned runs on nine hits with three walks and a pair of strikeouts over four innings.
HCA will be back on the road on Thursday to face Crittenden County. The Rockets only needed three innings to win their opener 20-0 over Community Christian.
Webster County will look to extend its perfect start to the season when the Trojans host Fort Campbell on Friday.
