
The Caldwell County tennis teams picked up season-opening wins over Webster County Tuesday at the CCHS tennis courts.
Caldwell’s girls won six of nine matches while Caldwell’s guys picked up a 3-1 victory over the Trojans.
In singles action for the Lady Tigers:
Josie Shaffer fell to Sara Welshans 6-1, 6-0;
Ella Johnson defeated Kimberly Shelton 8-1;
Keegan Miller topped Brylee Whitledge 8-2;
Troy Freeman was defeated by Kelsey Hanor 9-7;
Meleah Greenfield beat Meredith Kelly 8-1;
and Bella Stewart downed Brooklyn Curry 8-1.
In doubles:
Johnson/Miller defeated Shelton/Whitledge 6-2, 6-4;
Freeman/Greenfield beat McDowell/Hanor 8-3;
Marissa Smith/Stewart lost to Welshans/Cardwell 8-3.
In boys singles:
Ryan Hammett defeated Weston Wint 6-1, 6-0;
Cason Littlejohn topped Trigo Torres 8-3;
and Ben Menser blanked Jouse Morales 8-0.
In doubles:
Littlejohn/Noah Bailey los tto Wint/Torres 6-4, 6-3.
The Caldwell tennis teams will go to McCracken County on Thursday.
