It was a pretty good pitching debut for Fort Campbell’s Amar’e Moore. Actually, it would have been pretty good for anyone. And, let’s get this point out there right now, Amar’e Moore was not just making her first start in the circle in a high school softball game, she’s not even in high school at this point.

The Fort Campbell 7th grader looked nothing like a 7th grade pitcher Thursday evening as she struck out 16 in leading the Lady Falcons to a 9-1 road win at Heritage Christian Academy in the season opener for Fort Campbell.

Not only was she a standout in the circle, she also went 2-4 at the plate as the Lady Falcons pounded out 14 hits in the game. Moore had a no-hitter going into the bottom of the 7th but that came to an end when HCA’s Layton Weeks led off the inning with a double to left.

The Lady Warriors scored the first run of the game, taking advantage of a pair of early walks to take a 1-0 lead. Moore would only give up one more walk over the next six innings.

Fort Campbell tied the game in the top of the second on an RBI single from Baylee Backs. Emma Kolmarten and Jordan Wilkerson ignited a three-run rally in the third with a pair of RBI singles to make it 4-1.

After adding a run in the top of the 5th, the Lady Falcons slammed the door on the game with four more runs in the top of the 7th. The big blow in the inning was an RBI triple from Avaley Moore.

Jordan Wilkerson finished the game 4-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Emma Kolmarten was 2-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Tristin Caldwell also went 2-4. She ended up with 3 RBIs and a run scored.

Kennedy Hughes was tagged with the loss in the circle for Heritage Christian. She went seven innings, giving up 9 runs, 8 of them earned, on 14 hits, striking out 5 while walking 2.
