Henderson County’s Tyler Smithhart has been selected the 2nd Region Basketball Coaches Association 2023-24 Boys’ Coach of the Year.
Smithhart guided the Colonels to a 26-7 record and an appearance in the 2nd Region championship game this season.
He was presented his award following the regional final Tuesday night at Hopkinsville High School.
Henderson dealt heralded Lyon County one of its three regular-season losses when the Colonels won 78-73 Jan. 30 in Eddyville.
However, Lyon topped Henderson 56-44 in the regional championship.
The Colonels finished the year 15-1 against 2nd Region opponents.
Smithhart has spent 12 seasons as head coach at Henderson.
