After dropping a tough 7-5 decision to Franklin-Simpson earlier in the day, the University Heights Academy Blazers came back with a big offensive performance. UHA pounded out 15 hits on their way to a 14-9 win over Edwards County.

It was a game where the Blazers jumped out to a big lead, saw Edwards County close to within a single run, and then closed out the win with a big inning.

The Blazers came out swinging in this one. UHA strung together five straight hits with two outs in the bottom of the first as the Blazers took a 5-0 lead. The big hit in the inning was a double from Josh Pace.

After Edwards County scored two in the top of the 2nd, the Blazers got a run back in the bottom of the inning with a bases-loaded walk. UHA looked to have the game well in hand after scoring four runs in the bottom of the third to go up 10-2. The Blazers scored the runs on two passed balls, an error, and a sac fly.

But then the Blazers became their own worst enemies in the top of the 5th inning. Edwards County scored five runs thanks in large part to four walks and two UHA errors. That brought the game back into play at 10-9 rolling into the bottom of the 5th.

The Blazers then settled the issue for good in the bottom of the sixth. Five of the first six UHA batters that came to the plate reached base as the Blazers put up four runs in the inning to push the lead out to 14-9. The big blows were a double from Aiden Jones and a triple from Ryan Luckey.

UHA then set Edwards County down in order in the top of the 7th to close out the win.

Cadence Gibson had a huge game for the Blazers going 4-5 with an RBI and four runs scored. Bryson Turner finished 2-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Aiden Jones was 2-4 with two RBIs.

Josh Pace picked up the win going four innings in the start, giving up three runs on six hits, striking out eight while walking two. Jackson Flynn worked the last three innings to get the save.
