Hoptown’s Guys Place 7th at Invitational of the South

Ian Rossario Alicea had a big day to lead Hopkinsville’s track teams at the Invitational of the South track meet at Marshall County on Saturday.

Alicea placed first in the 300-meter hurdles in a time of 41.47 seconds. He was second in the 110 hurdles in 16.80 seconds and also placed sixth in the long jump at 18 feet, 2.5 inches.

Hoptown’s 4×200-meter relay team of Gavin Alston, Ian Rossario Alicea, James Bradley and Iriel Leak ran to a third-place finish in 1:35.07.

Meanwhile, the 4×400 team of Gavin Alston, LaMareon Jeffers, Carlo Jones and Iriel Leak took fourth in 3:47.78.

Alston had a fourth-place showing in the 400-meter dash in 51.61 seconds.

Tyson Cavinder was fourth in the 1,600-meter run in 5:10.64.

Davian Simon took eighth in the discus at 109 feet, 5 inches.

Keyshun Teal was eighth in the 110 hurdles in 18.40 seconds.

Hoptown’s guys placed seventh out of 22 schools in the team standings.

Hopkinsville’s girls got a fifth-place showing from its 4×400-meter relay team in 4:50.53. Members of that team are Grace Cansler, Anarria Settles, A’Ireona Spikes and Amaya Burse.

Lauren Mayes was sixth in the 3,200-meter run in 12:41.57. She also finished eighth in the 1,600 in 6:07.63.

Anarria Settles placed seventh in the 300-meter hurdles in 56.27 seconds.

Grace Cansler was eighth in the 400 dash in 1:07.50. She was 10th in the 200 in 30.02 seconds.

ZaKerah Henderson took eighth in the shot put at 27 feet, 1 inch.

Hopkinsville’s girls were 13th out of 22 schools in the team standings.

Marshall County swept the team championships in its own track meet.
