
The Todd County Central baseball team put the brakes on a two-game losing streak on Monday, beating bad weather to a 15-3 victory over Fort Campbell to improve to 3-4 on the season.
The Rebels highlighted a four-run first inning with an RBI double by Zack Robinson and a run-scoring single by Christopher Harris before the Falcons took advantage of a Todd Central error in the bottom side of the inning to cut the lead in half.
Conner Wheeler drove in a run with a single and George Cumbee doubled to drive in another as part of a six-run second, and Zack Robinson’s solo shot over the left-field fence made it 10-2 after three innings.
Michael Anderson’s RBI single got a run back for the Falcons in the top of the fourth, but the Rebels took advantage of three walks and an error to push six runs across in the bottom of the frame. Grady Reding tripled in a run, and Wheeler followed with an RBI single to round out the Rebel scoring.
Wheeler struck out two batters in the top of the fifth to earn the win, allowing three runs, none earned, on six hits with a pair of walks and eight strikeouts.
Reding, Wheeler, and Robinson led the Rebels with two hits each, and Harris drove in a pair of runs for Todd Central.
Adam Harrington took the loss for the Falcons, surrendering nine runs, six earned, on five hits with five walks and a strikeout. Anderson finished 3/3 at the plate, and Colton Ramos drove in a pair of runs.
Todd Central will be back on its home field on Tuesday for a visit from Tennessee Heat.
Fort Campbell will hit the road on Tuesday for a matchup with Northwest, TN.
