Calloway County sophomore pitcher Hailee Jones limited Caldwell County to just three base hits on Friday as the Lady Lakers bested the Lady Tigers 3-1 in Murray.

Jones struck out 12 and allowed just an unearned run in the seventh inning.

Calloway (4-5) scored all three of its runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Bailee Grogan’s bases-clearing triple broke up a 0-0 game and ended up being all of the offense the Lady Lakers would need.

Caldwell got a run in the top of the seventh when Adley Lewis singled and later scored when Maci Tyler reached on an error. Another error allowed the Lady Tigers to put runners at second and third with two outs, but a line drive to right was caught for the final out of the contest.

Lewis had all three of Caldwell’s base hits, going 3-for-3.

Alexis Wood suffered the pitching setback for the Lady Tigers. She allowed two earned runs on five base hits. Wood struck out four and walked one.

Caldwell’s girls are now 8-4 this season. The Lady Tigers are 0-7 all-time against Calloway.
