
After having its seven-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday with a 13-inning setback at Murray, Caldwell County got back to its winning ways on Thursday.
The Tigers needed just three innings to defeat Dawson Springs 19-0 in 7th District action at the VFW Ballpark in Princeton.
Freshman Daelyn Lander struck out seven and did not allow a base hit in his first varsity start on the mound for Caldwell.
Dawson Springs (0-5 overall, 0-3 district) had just two base runners — both on walks.
Meanwhile, Caldwell (9-2, 4-0) scored six times in the first inning, then put up 13 runs in the bottom of the second to score its 19 runs.
The Tigers sent 10 men to the plate in the first inning, then 19 batters to the plate in the second.
Channing Puckett was 3-for-3 with a double and two runs batted in for Caldwell. Collin Whittington was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Lander went 2-for-3 and knocked in two. Ari Wells was 1-for-1 with three runs batted in and three runs scored.
Caldwell also used eight walks to keep the basepaths busy.
The Tigers have owned the all-time series with the Panthers. Caldwell now holds an 83-9 advantage.
The Tigers have won their last nine matchups with Dawson and 41 of the last 42 meetings.
Caldwell will go to Marshall County (3-7) on Friday.
