Christian County Turns Back Lady Maroon 7th Inning Rally for 4-3 Win

county-story-2

The Christian County Lady Colonels looked to have things going all their way as they rolled into the top of the 7th Friday evening leading Madisonville-North Hopkins 4-1 in a battle of 2nd Region powers. Then things almost got a little too interesting. Almost.

After seeing the Lady Maroons score two runs in the top of the 7th and put the tying run on third and the go-ahead run on first, Jordan Turner pulled the string on a nasty change-up to strike out Addy Prow for the third out of the inning and put the brakes on the Lady Maroon comeback and give the Lady Colonels a 4-3 win.

The win comes a night after the Lady Colonels suffered their first loss of the season on the road at Livingston Central and ended a six-game winning streak for Madisonville.

Christian County had jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third when Avery Adcock blasted her first home run of the season over the left field fence.

The Lady Maroons took advantage of a Christian County error in the top of the 4th to cut the lead to 2-1.

Christian County added a pair of runs in the bottom of the 5th on an RBI single from Gracie Harned and an error from the Lady Maroons that allowed Avery Adock to score and extend the lead to 4-1.

Madisonville made their move in the top of the 7th with one out, loading the bases on a double and a pair of walks. Sadie Kirk then singled to drive in a pair of runs, cutting the lead to 4-3 and putting the Christian County lead in jeopardy until Jordan Turner got the big ‘K’ to end the game.

Mackenzie Stoltz limited Christian County to just four hits, those hits coming from Gracie Harned, Avery Adock, Alyssa Petterson, and Jordan Turner. But those four hits would turn out to be enough for the Lady Colonels to take the win.

Jordan Turner went the distance in the circle for the Lady Colonels, giving up three runs, two of them earned, on 6 hits, striking out seven while walking two.

Sadie Kirk had a big night at the plate for the Lady Maroons, going 4-4 with 2 RBIs and a run scored.
