Colonels Suffer 5th Straight Loss at Greenwood

It has been a tough start to the 2024 baseball season for the Christian County Colonels. The Colonels were limited to one hit Friday night as they fell at Greenwood 5-1 for their 5th straight loss.

The Colonels only hit of the game would come in the top of the 4th inning when Gage Montes singled to advance Aiden Lewis to third base. Preston Phan flew out to center to drive in Lewis to cut the Greenwood lead to 4-1.

Greenwood had gotten on the board early, plating three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Back-to-back RBI doubles were the big hits in the inning.

A pair of one-out singles opened the door for the Gators to add a run in the bottom of the third inning.

Greenwood used a walk and a pair of singles to add an insurance run in the bottom of the 6th.

The Gators’ Easton Talley picked up the win. Talley started the game and went 5 innings, allowing just the one run on one hit, striking out six, and walking none.

Gage Montes was charged with the loss for Christian County. Montes went five innings, giving up four runs on seven hits, striking out five and walking two.
