The Fort Campbell Falcons scored in every at-bat but one and got a two-hit pitching effort from Michael Anderson as they cruised to a big 14-1 8th District win Thursday evening at Heritage Christian County. The win was the first district win for the Falcons since the 2012 season when they took a 3-0 win over the Hopkinsville Tigers.
That Falcon team would go on to win 16 games.
Fort Campbell took control of the game quickly Thursday evening, scoring 5 runs in the top of the first and adding 6 more in the top of the second. The Falcons scored twice in the third and then closed out the five-inning win with a run in the top of the 5th.
Adam Harrington led the offensive outburst for the Falcons, going 3-4 with two doubles, three RBIs, and three runs scored. Michael Anderson, John Arnold, and Noah Herron had two hits each for the Falcons.
Marquell Hunt finished the game with two RBIs for the Falcons. Five other players had one RBI each in the win.
Michael Anderson went all five innings on the mound, giving up just one run on two hits. He struck out five and walked two.
Caden Gresham had both hits in the game for Heritage Christian. He also drove in the Warriors’ lone run in the bottom of the first.
Fort Campbell improves to 2-11 with the win, while the Warriors drop to 2-9 on the season.
