The Todd County Central Lady Rebels’ hopes of a 4th Region All A championship ran into a bit of a buzz saw Saturday afternoon. That buzz saw coming in the form of the Russellville Lady Panthers. The Lady Panthers scored 11 runs in the second and third innings to carry them to a 13-3 5-inning win at Cumberland County.

After taking a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on an RBI double from Reese Croslin, the Russellville offense got things revved up. The Lady Panthers pounded out five hits in the second to score six runs.

Russellville used three more hits in the third to plate five runs. The big blow in the inning was a two-run homer from Chloe Penrod as the lead grew to 12-0.

The Lady Rebels temporarily staved off the 10-run rule with a 3-run rally in the top of the 5th. Abby Williams had the big hit of the inning with an RBI triple to center.

But the delay was not a long one. Ja’eda Poindexter led off the bottom of the 5th with a single, stole second and third, and then scored on a sac flu to end the game.

Abby Williams led the Lady Rebels at the plate, going 2-3 with a triple, an RBI, and a run scored. Addison Woodall and Isabelle Hightower also had hits for Todd Central.

Woodall went the distance in the circle for the Lady Rebels.

Earlier in the day, the Lady Rebels had rallied from a 1-0 deficit with a pair of runs in the bottom of the 5th to take a 2-1 win over Monroe County in the All A regional semifinals.

Abby Williams and Naomi Gammon had big hits in the inning for the Lady Rebels.

The story of the game was the pitching of Jocelyn Mock, who went six innings in the circle. Mock gave up just one run on two hits, while striking out seven and walking none.

Addison Woodall picked up the save by pitching a hitless 7th inning in relief.
