A night after opening their 5th-District slate with an 11-1 victory over Livingston County Central, Lyon County made it two-straight against district foes with a 10-0 win over Crittenden County on Friday.  The Lyons evened their record at 4-4 ahead of another district matchup with visiting Trigg County on Saturday.

After a scoreless first inning, Lyon County starter pitcher John Bingham found himself in a bases-loaded, no-out jam after a single and a pair of walks.  However, Bingham shut the door with three strikeouts in a row and only allowed four baserunners the rest of the game.

Peyton Williams’ home run got the Lyons going with two outs in the bottom of the second, followed by an RBI triple by Eli Baker and a run-scoring single from Brady Belt.

Austin Spears led off the Lyon half of the third with a single and went to third on Korben Lucas’ double before scoring on a passed ball.  Colton Prow followed with an RBI single, a run came in on a bases-loaded walk, and Bingham made it 7-0 with a run-scoring single.

The Lyons finished things off in the bottom of the fifth, beginning with back-to-back doubles by Baker and Brady Belt to bring in a run.  With two outs and Belt on third, Spears crushed a 2-1 pitch over the left-field fence to end the game in walk-off fashion, his second home run in as many days.

Bingham earned his first win of the season on the mound, going five scoreless innings with two hits, five walks, and nine strikeouts.  He also had two hits and an RBI, along with Baker and Prow.  Spears collected two hits and drove in a pair of runs, and Belt hit safely twice and added three RBI.

Chase Conyer took the loss for the Rockets, allowing seven earned runs on nine hits with five walks and a pair of strikeouts.  Jeremiah Foster worked one and two-thirds innings in relief, giving up three earned runs on four hits with two strikeouts.

Crittenden slipped to 6-4 with its second loss in a row, 0-3 in district play.  The Rockets will make their way to Florida for the Panama City Beach Bash over the weekend, beginning with a matchup with Rutherford, FL on Monday.
