Spring Break 2024 got off to a pretty good start for the Hopkinsville Tigers. The Tigers got yet another dominating pitching performance from J.J. Thompson as they picked up a 1-0 win over Lexington Lafayette in the Fort Walton Beach Bash.

Thompson went the distance for the Tigers giving up just three hits. He struck out 15 batters and walked five. He is off to a blazing hot start to the season, having given up no earned runs in 25 1/3 innings and has struck out 55 batters on his way to a 4-0 record.

The Tigers got the only run they would need in the game in the bottom of the third. Gavin Mitchell led off the inning with a single. He advanced to third base on a passed ball and a wild pitch.

Mitchell then scored on a sac fly from J.J. Thompson.

Zach Moss and Dylan Sweeney had the other two hits for the Tigers.

With the win, the Tigers improve to 7-2 on the season.
