Keith Farmer understands he didn’t get to ask all the questions many University of Kentucky basketball fans wished he would have when he interviewed UK athletics director Mitch Barnhart and UK basketball coach John Calipari during a recent “BBN Tonight” episode on WLEX-TV.

The rare joint appearance by Barnhart and Calipari came one day after the UK AD officially confirmed Calipari would return for a 16th season despite first round losses in two of the last three NCAA Tournaments.

“It is a great relationship (between Barnhart and Calipari)? Maybe not. But maybe they helped dispel some rumors (about their lack of a relationship),” Farmer said.

WLEX-TV and Kentucky have a partnership that enables BBN Tonight to have exclusive content on shows five nights per week from 7:30-8 p.m.

“I didn’t have a chance to ask a lot of questions. They are two of the best filibusters out there and it was kind of like they were interviewing each other,” Farmer said on WPBK-FM Thursday morning. “I would have liked to have been able to ask a few more questions.

“They wanted to be seen together and wanted to put out a message. Do they need to sit in front of full media and take more difficult questions? Probably so.”

Farmer knows it will take more for UK to have more postseason success than just playing better defense and working on it earlier than Calipari’s teams have before.

“They are in a tough position. I will buy that part of it,” Farmer said. “They are waiting on so many decisions to be made (by players about their futures). Other places know they either have most players coming back or they have jumped in the transfer portal or are maybe going pro. Here only one player (Adou Thiero) has said anything about his future (but Justin Edwards announced later Thursday that he was putting his name into the NBA draft).”

“Adou has a lot of great traits. He could be a great leader for the team out there but maybe he doesn’t want to fight that next (freshman) class coming in for playing time,” Farmer said.

  1. That last statement Farmer made about Thiero tells me that Farmer is a Calipari asskisser and this interview is going to be nothing more than an attempt to make the decision of keeping the FRAUD as coach a good decision. Kentucky has an idiot for an athletic director and a fraud for a basketball coach. No amount of excuses and asskissing are going to change that. All of the big talk about making changes is nothing more than snake oil and bullshit aimed at appeasing BBN. Kentucky will never win another SEC season or tournament title and will never make it past the first weekend of the NCAA as long as the FRAUD is the coach.

    1. DITTO !!!

Now UK can add a “fake interview” to the fraud and his money minion AD to be a complete 3-ring circus.

I hold Calipari, the UK Board of Trustees & every administrator with authority to challenge, question, call out or request an investigation of the history of shenanigans these 2 crooks have been involved in. How many DUMB & SECRET contracts does the money minion AD have to botch before he is held accountable?

No other University would have tolerated these 2 pees in a pod year after year!

UK needs to PROVE it is a University of HIGHER EDUCATION by either having the administration pull the plug on the 2 crooks OR do the right thing and resign with a confession you are not competent in your job and are therefore an embarrassment to UK!

UK needs a clean sweep of EVERY administrator who has failed to speak up and call out the fraud and his money minion AD !!!!

  2. He needs to go after liam mcneely he is much better than Knox and Richmond at shooting passing and dribbling. Why wouldn’t you bring in another shooter. He has said he wants to play at Kentucky. If that means Richmond or Knox has to slide to the end of the bench then so be it. He will end up going to Kansas or Uconn and being a star his sophomore season. I can see him staying 2-3 years. He shoots the 3 at over 42% in high school is unbelievable because most players who get better will raise that average about 3-5%. That would put him at 45-47% from the 3 point line. If we had a starting lineup next year of Wagner, Sheppard, Mcneely, Big Z and Bradshaw we would be unstoppable next year. I think big z and Bradshaw improve so much this summer. I would like to see ugo go the NBA or tansfer. To me he just don’t have it. His reaction speed is the most slow I’ve ever seen. If Big Z or Bradshaw transfer or leave than we might need Ugo. He’s just terrible on offense and his defense ends at blocking shots. His man always goes around him and scores over top of him which should never happen. Big Z and Bradshaw need to hit the weight room and gain about 10-15 pounds of muscle. That will go a long way in improving them from being pushed around down low. I just think a starting lineup of Wagner Sheppard McNealy Big Z and Bradshaw would be so fun to watch. I think the worst 3 point shooter out of the bunch is Wagner. Everyone on the floor could shoot the 3 and them 4 players being sophomores everyone would improve from their freshman season. 2 seven footer playing at the same time would be dominant down low. Yes they weren’t this year but they were freshman who got a late start. With summer conditioning and a year of experience you will see a big difference. With the starters I listed you would have Fland, Richmond, Big Q, Cyril, Burks, Perry and Hart coming off the bench. I still think 2 or 3 more players transfer. We could use a guard and a forward in this portal that would complete this team. Final 4 bound 2025.

  3. Doesn’t matter who plays for Ky going forward, the die is cast into an untenable situation. Both of these classless characters, Caliphony and Barnheartless are playing off the assumed /supposed ignorance of the Ky fans across the Bluegrass. With neither of them being Kentuckians, Cal an East Coast liberal and Barny a know it all Buckeye from birth, there is no heartfelt allegiance to the history of the program. Just greed, the both seeing the situation as a cash cow retirement, a financial wool pulled over the eyes of the faithful fans of Ky basketball. When are the fans going to show any pride, redeem the program from these two henchmen by showing up at Rupp Arena each game, not to watch, but protest these two weasels out of town during every game played going forward. Ky, as poor and ignorant state as it is depicted by the media and comedians alike appear willing to live up to this false narrative for whatever reason, WHO KNOWS!!!! Grow a pair, you fans up there, protest these clowns. Light a fire under their rear-ends and harass the clowns out of town!!! They are stealing the State blind financially, as well as destroying an historic program in the process. THESE TWO HAVE NO SHAME!!!

  4. And one more thing. If anyone ever needed phychiactric treatment for an inflated, megalomaniac personality, Caliphony is in extreme critical condition with the mental disease, needing a transfusion of of reality ASAP.

  5. I.totally agree with Larry’s assessment of Kentucky’s basketball program.
I.particularly liked how he labeled the BBC interview of Coach John Calipari and
    Athletic Director Mitch Barnhart….
    a complete sham!
