Entering Saturday’s matchup with visiting Dawson Springs on the heels of a three-game losing run, the Trigg County baseball team bounced back in a big way with a 17-0 victory over the Panthers.  The Wildcats swept the season series to even their record at 5-5 ahead of the start of the Kentucky 2A Sectional tournament on Tuesday.

Trigg County’s Aaden Allen started on the mound and struck out three of the first four batters he faced before the Wildcats blew the game open in their first at-bat.   A parade of RBI singles by Bentley Reynolds, Aidon Butts, Chase Hampton, and Haydon Reynolds twice, along with a run-scoring double by Allen, gave Trigg a 14-0 advantage after one inning.

Allen stuck out two more Panther batters in the top of the second, allowing no hits with a pair of walks to earn his first win in only his second appearance on the mound this season.  8th-grader Ty Gootee finished the game with a scoreless third inning, striking out two.

RBI singles by Brody Calhoun, Trevor Hoy, and Carson Kline tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the second to round out the scoring.

Allen finished 3/3 at the plate to lead the Wildcats, Haydon Reynolds hit safely twice and drove in a pair of runs,  and 11 other Wildcats each chipped in an RBI.

Jakob Purdy took the loss as the Panthers slipped to 2-7.  7th-grader Aiden Crook pitched the final two innings.

Dawson Springs will hope to bounce back on Monday in a matchup with Fort Campbell in the 2nd Region All-A Classic.  The Falcons have won the last two in the series between the teams.
