Maybe there has never been a recruiting bonanza for Kentucky women’s basketball like the one new coach Kenny Brooks had in about a 24-hour period Thursday to Friday.

Not only did he have two of his former players, including an all-American, transfer from Virginia Tech, his former school, but he also had two recruits flip their commitments from the Hokies to UK.

The final part of the puzzle was 6-2 guard Lexi Blue of Orlando, the No. 38 overall recruit in the class of 2024 and a four-time state high school champion.

Blue flipped her commitment on social media with a graphic of her wearing Kentucky blue with this caption: “It’s time to be a Wildcat! #committed #bbn.”

Blue averaged 13.9 points per game and shot 50 percent from the field during her senior season. She also pulled off 5.1 rebounds.

Blue is UK’s highest rated recruit since center Tionna Herron when she was No. 69 in the 2022 recruiting class. Herron redshirted one year at UK and transferred.

Kentucky added All-American point guard Georgia Amoore first and then 6-5 Clara Strack also announced she was transferring to UK. Eastern Florida State College sophomore Amelia Hassett flipped her commitment to Kentucky next.

Imari Berry, a former Clemson signee and the No. 13 overall recruit in the class of 2024 out of Clarksville, Tenn., also now has UK in her final three along with Louisville and North Carolina.

Kentucky also had two more players put their names in the transfer portal which makes sense. Starting point guard Brooklyn Miles, a Franklin County product who transferred to UK from Tennessee last season, and seldom used freshman guard Jordy Griggs have both announced they will transfer.

Ajae Petty, last year’s leading scorer and rebounder, and freshman forward Janaé Walker each announced their decision to transfer soon after Kyra Elzy was fired.
