
Fort Campbell sophomore Michael Anderson allowed a pair of hits over four scoreless innings to help the Falcons to a 15-0 victory over Dawson Springs on Monday in the 2nd Region All-A quarterfinals at Lyon County. Weather permitting, Fort Campbell will square off with hosts Lyon County on Tuesday in the semifinals.
Anderson pitched around Micah Washburn’s first-inning double and allowed only one other baserunner while striking out 11 and not issuing a walk to pick up his second victory of the season. Anderson also helped his cause with an RBI single and reached on one of Dawson Springs’ seven errors to push another run across.
Consecutive RBI singles by Noah Herron, Adam Harrington, and Thomas Roach made it 6-0 in the bottom of the second, and Harrington added his second RBI with a single to highlight a four-run third.
Anderson collected his second RBI with a single in the bottom of the fourth to make it 14-0, and Herron smacked a ball to center to bring in the final run.
Herron finished with three runs driven in, while Harrington, Anderson, Ayden Moore, and Colton Ramos each added two RBI for the Falcons.
Washburn took the loss for the Panthers, allowing eight runs, six earned, on four hits with four walks and a strikeout over two innings. Kolby Crook surrendered seven runs, five earned, on four hits with three walks in an inning of work.
Fort Campbell improved to 2-13. Dawson Springs slipped to 2-8 and has a week to regroup before traveling to Hopkins County Central on Monday.
