The recent departure of key personnel in the Hopkinsville High School athletic department continued on Tuesday as Athletic Director Blake Leach announced his resignation after five years in the role.
In a media release from the school district office, Leach said “I have enjoyed my time as the athletic director of Hopkinsville High School. I am very grateful for the support from our administration, coaches, and the Hopkinsville HS family. I am looking forward to more time spent with my son, and the opportunity to be involved in baseball at Hopkinsville HS again. With the time that is required for this position, this is the best move for me at this point in my life. I will still be involved in athletics but in a different role in support of the Tigers programs.”
Leach was the baseball coach at Hopkinsville before taking over as athletic director. He has returned to the diamond this season to assist head coach Malcolm Tipler.
The school said they would begin the search for a new athletic director in the coming weeks.
Since the start of the school year in August, Hopkinsville has seen resignations from its football head coach, golf head coach, cheer head coach, and now its athletic director for various reasons.
