Jay Wright coached 21 years at Villanova and won two national championships.
He understands the pressure of big-time college basketball and certainly appreciates the daily scrutiny that John Calipari faced at Kentucky or any other coach always has.
Wright has been working as an analyst for CBS-TV since his retirement from coaching in 2022. It’s a job he enjoys and does well as he demonstrated again Monday night during Connecticut’s national championship win over Purdue.
“The guy that replaces him (Calipari) is going to be in a really difficult position — to cover all the areas of college basketball,” Wright said. “He’s a college basketball genius.
“What he did in recruiting, and bringing in all those pros and all those guys that come back to Kentucky — makes that program as strong as ever. Whoever comes in there is coming into an extremely strong program.”
Kentucky fans would love to have Wright coaching the Wildcats but Wright told CBS Sports’ Seth Davis it was a “firm no” that he would not be interested in coaching Kentucky.

I can’t believe that he wouldn’t want to come here and be a part of the Big BooHoo Nation. I guess he don’t like whiners.
Looks like Scott Drew is our next coach.
