Going into Friday night, the Christian County Colonels had won just one game this season that was not against a team named either Heritage Christian or Fort Campbell. In what was arguably the Colonels’ best performance of the season, they traveled across North Drive and picked up an important 5-2 road district win over University Heights Academy.

The win kept the Colonels unbeaten in district play and, more importantly, puts Christian County in position to play for the top seed in the 8th District tournament.

After seeing their first six batters set down by UHA starter Hayden Hunt, the Colonels broke through in the top of the third. After back-to-back walks and a sacrifice, Christian County got a ground out from Aiden Lewis that scored Jacob Jenkins to give the Colonels a 1-0 lead, a lead they would not give up.

The Colonels drew a walk and a hit batter from Hunt to start the top of the fourth. Sebastian Dazey doubled to drive in Carter Sholar as the lead grew to 2-0. An infield error from the Blazers then allowed two more runs to score as Christian County extended the lead to 4-0.

UHA got on the board in the bottom of the 5th when Ryan Luckey scored on a sac fly off the bat of Hayden Hunt to cut the lead to 4-1.

The Blazers had their best chance to get back in the game in the bottom of the sixth. Josh Pace doubled with two outs to score Sam Belt, who had walked earlier in the inning to make it 4-2. Ryan Luckey was then hit by a pitch to bring the go-ahead run to the plate. Christian County reliever Eddie Davis then got Hayden Hunt to fly out to end the threat.

Christian County added an insurance run in the top of the 7th on a double from Aiden Lewis.

The Colonels scored their five runs on just four hits. Aiden Lewis, Sebastian Dazey, Blake Boehman, and Jonathan Lewis had one hit each for Christian County. Aiden Lewis and Blake Boehman had two RBIs each for the Colonels.

Five different Blazers had a hit in the game. Courtland Gibson, Jackson Flynn, Bryson Turner, Josh Pace, and Ryan Luckey, all had a hit. Hayden Hunt and Josh Pace had one RBI each.

Aiden Lewis got the win for Christian County, going 5 1/3 innings, giving up two runs on four hits, striking out seven, and walking four.

Hayden Hunt was tagged with the loss for UHA. He went all seven innings, giving up 5 runs, only two of them earned, striking out seven and walking three.
