It was a ‘tale of two games’ for the Heritage Christian Academy Lady Warriors as they traveled to Bowling Green on Saturday. In the opener, the Lady Warriors were limited to just two hits as they fell to Warren Central 9-1.

The Lady Warrior bats came alive in the second game of the day but they could not find a way to slow down Fort Knox as the Lady Eagles outscored HCA 14-12.

Against Warren Central, Gracey Bufford was hit by a pitch to open the game. She would later score on a steal of home to put HCA up 1-0.

The Lady Dragons shut down the Lady Warriors from that point, scoring nine unanswered runs to take the win. Warren Central scored in every inning but the bottom of the 4th as the Lady Dragons picked up their third win of the season.

Madison Warren had both hits for Heritage Christian.

Kennedy Hughes went the distance for the Lady Warriors in the circle, giving up 9 runs on 11 hits, striking out 4 and walking 5.

In the game with Fort Knox, the Lady Warriors came up with 22 hits but it was still not enough as they dropped the two-run decision to the Lady Eagles.

HCA scored 4 runs in the top of the first and another in the top of the second to take a 5-0 lead.

Fort Knox responded by scoring 8 straight runs to take an 8-5 lead.

The two teams each scored once in the fourth. Fort Knox got an RBI triple, an RBI single, and a steal of home to score three more in the bottom of the 5th to nudge their lead out to 12-6.

HCA rallied to score three times in the top of the 6th to cut the lead to 12-9. Lily Anderson and Gracey Bufford had RBI singles during the inning.

But the Lady Eagles got two of those runs back in the bottom half of the inning and took a 14-9 lead into the final inning.

Rachel Robson stole home with one out to make it 14-10. A two-out home run from Layton Weeks got the Lady Warriors to within 14-12. HCA got two more singles to bring the go-ahead run to the plate but the Lady Warriors would get thrown out on the base paths to end the rally and give Fort Knox the win.

Gracey Bufford had a big game going 3-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Rachel Robson was 4-5 with 3 runs scored. Madison Warren finished 3-5 with three runs scored.

Kennedy Hughes again went the distance for the Lady Warriors in the circle, giving her 14 innings pitched on the day.
