Caldwell’s Girls Sweep Hopkinsville in Home Match

The Caldwell County Lady Tiger tennis team picked up not just one win over Hopkinsville on Friday, but two.

Caldwell took the regularly-scheduled match 9-0.

Caldwell also claimed a 7-2 win in a match that was suspended last month at Hopkinsville and concluded Friday in Princeton.

Singles results from the 9-0 win:
Josie Shaffer defeated Chiani Leak 6-2, 6-0;
Ella Johnson def. Madison Allen 8-0;
Keegan Miller def. Brooke Stewart 8-4;
Troy Freeman def. Alphasia King 8-4;
Isabella Stewart def. Evelyn Banguart 8-3;
Jayden Lamb def. Elisa Renshaw 8-1.

In doubles:
Johnson/Miller def. Allen/Stewart 8-2;
Freeman/Stewart def. Banguart/Renshaw 9-7;
Marissa Smith/Shaffer def. Leak/King 8-6.

Meanwhile, the completed competition included a singles match between Shaffer and Stewart that was stopped with Stewart up 14-13 in the tiebreaker. Shaffer came back to win the tiebreaker and take the match 7-6 (8-6), 5-7, 19-17.

Caldwell is next scheduled to host the Paducah Home School team on Monday.

Hopkinsville will host Webster County on Monday.
