Two Webster County pitchers combined to throw a one-hitter as the Trojans ended their three-game losing streak with a 5-2 home-field win over the Christian County Colonels Monday evening in Dixon. In ending their losing streak, the Trojans handed the Colonels their second straight loss.
The Trojans broke a 2-2 tie with two runs in the bottom of the third inning. Webster County would then add an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth.
The Trojans won the game despite inconsistent pitching that gave up seven walks and one hit batter.
The Colonels took a 1-0 lead just a half inning into the game thanks to three walks and a hit batter.
After Webster County scored two in the bottom of the first to take a 2-1 lead, the Colonels used a Trojan error to tie the game in the top of the 2nd.
Sebastian Dazey had the only hit in the game for Christian County.
Eddie Davis was tagged with the loss on the mound for the Colonels. Davis went five innings, giving up four runs, three of them earned, on 7 hits, striking out 9 while walking one.
Christian County is back on the road Tuesday night to take on Trigg County.
