Solving Madisonville-North Hopkins has been a difficult task for the Caldwell County Lady Tiger softball team.
The Lady Maroons used a five-run first inning to dispatch the Lady Tigers 6-1 Monday in 7th District action in Madisonville.
The Lady Maroons have won eight straight against Caldwell and 38 of the last 39 meetings going back to the 2008 season.
Sadie Kirk held Caldwell to just two base hits in the latest get-together. Kirk (6-0) struck out 11, walked just two, and allowed just an unearned run in the contest.
Mackenzie Stoltz had a two-run home run as part of Madisonville’s big first inning.
Addy Prow hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth to put the Lady Maroons up 6-0.
Alicia Stanley drove in Caldwell’s only run with a sacrifice fly to right in the top of the sixth inning.
Stanley and Adley Lewis each had singles for the Lady Tigers.
Stoltz was 2-for-3 for Madisonville.
The Lady Maroons now lead the all-time series 47-18.
Caldwell’s girls are now 10-8 overall and 3-2 in the district. They will go to Lyon County on Tuesday.
Madisonville (11-3, 3-0) hosts McCracken County on Tuesday.
