At Franklin-Simpson on Monday in search of its first 13th-District victory of the season, the Todd County Central baseball team was held to a single hit by the Wildcats’ Brevin Scott in a 10-1 setback.
The Rebels lost their fourth straight in the series after snapping a 25-game losing streak to Franklin-Simpson. Todd Central slipped to 4-9 and will host the Wildcats in a rematch on Tuesday.
A pair of walks were the Rebels’ only baserunners over the first five frames before they pushed a run across in the top of the sixth on an RBI single by Conner Wheeler. However, that would be all the offense Scott would allow, going the distance with 13 strikeouts and six walks to earn his third win of the season.
Garrett Sadler’s RBI double gave the Wildcats the lead in the bottom of the first and they added three runs in the fourth. Layne Alford’s RBI triple and Sadler’s run-scoring double highlighted a four-run sixth to cap the scoring.
Sadler finished with three hits and three runs driven in, Alford drove in a pair of runs, and Brady Delk and Hunter Jones each collected two hits.
Zack Robinson took the loss for the Rebels, surrendering 10 runs, seven earned, on 11 hits with three walks and three strikeouts.
Franklin-Simpson snapped a two-game skid to improve to 9-7, 1-0 in district play.
