A night after knocking off visiting Todd County Central 10-1, the Franklin-Simpson Wildcats only needed five innings to complete a season sweep of the Rebels with a 21-0 victory on Tuesday in Elkton.

The Rebels dropped their fifth straight to slip to 4-10, 0-2 in district play, ahead of a trip to Kenwood, TN on Thursday.

Gavin Dickerson’s RBI double highlighted a five-run first for the Wildcats, more than enough support for Gavin Link on the mound.  Link earned his fourth win of the season, pitching four scoreless innings with six strikeouts and a single walk.

Layne Alford doubled in a pair of runs in a nine-run third to give the Wildcats a 14-0 advantage, and Brevin Scott drove in a pair of runs with a triple as part of seven more runs in the top of the fourth.

Alford had three hits and three RBI, and Colton Wilson drove in three runs for Franklin-Simpson.  Scott finished with three hits and two RBI, and Dickerson, Brady Delk, Griff Blanton, Hunter Jones, and Braxton Jenkins each drove in two runs.

Conner Wheeler took the loss for the Rebels, allowing 14 runs, eight earned, on 11 hits with three walks and a pair of strikeouts.

Franklin-Simpson improved to 10-7 with its fifth straight win in the series.
