Cadence Gibson singled home a run with two outs in the top of the sixth inning to lift University Heights Academy to a 5-4 victory at Caldwell County on Tuesday.

The win avenged a 6-1 loss to Caldwell in the 2nd Region All A Classic last week.

UHA (11-8) led 2-0 in the top of the first inning.

Caldwell (16-5) tied the game in the bottom of the first, then went up 3-2 in the second.

The Blazers went back on top 4-3 in the top of the fourth, but the Tigers knotted things again in the bottom of that frame.

But UHA regained the lead for good in the top of the sixth.

Ryan Luckey singled with one out and stole second. He then came in to score when Gibson singled on a line drive to right field.

Josh Pace pitched the final 3.2 innings to earn the win on the mound. He shut out Caldwell over that time, allowing just one hit while striking out eight.

Gibson finished 3-for-4 at the plate and drove in three for the Blazers. Hayden Hunt was 2-for-4 and scored twice.

Cole Slone was the only Caldwell player with more than one hit, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Channing Puckett was 1-for-3 and drove in two.

University Heights next visits Henderson County on Thursday.

Caldwell will play a 7th District date at Madisonville-North Hopkins on Thursday.
