The Christian County Lady Colonels extended their winning streak to three games and then saw that streak come to an end at three Saturday as they split a pair of games on their home field. The Lady Colonels saw a four-run lead get away and then took a thrilling 6-5 9-inning win over Graves County. The Lady Colonels then fell to Apollo for the second time in two weeks, this time by a 7-1 score.

In the opener, Jazzy Tejada laid down a perfect bunt with one out in the bottom of the 9th inning to score Aaliyah Bell from 3rd base as the Lady Colonels walked off a 6-5 win over Graves County. Bell, who was the courtesy runner for Gracie Harned, who was the runner placed on 2nd base to start the inning, had advanced to third on a ground out from Chloe Almy to start the inning.

After Haley Petterson walked, Tejada came to the plate and put the first pitch she was down the first base line. Graves County first baseman Ginger Martin picked up the bunt and came home with the throw, but not in time to get the speedy Bell as the Lady Colonels’ celebration began.

Both teams had scored in the first extra inning and had a chance to close out the game, but Christian County’s Jordan Turner and Graves County’s Brooklyn Cole, both of whom went the entire game in the circle for their respective teams, were able to get out of trouble and keep their teams in the game.

Christian County looked to have complete control of this one early, leading 4-0 after two innings. But the Lady Eagles, who picked up a win over the Lady Colonels last Saturday, came back with three runs in the third and then tied the game with a run in the top of the sixth.

Jayda Turner led the way for the Lady Colonels, going 3-4 with an RBI. Chloe Almy and Avery Adock had the other hits for Christian County, who was outhit by the Lady Eagles 8 to 5, but had one fewer error than did the Lady Eagles.

Jordan Turner went 9 innings in the circle, giving up 5 runs, only two of them earned, striking out 11 and walking two.

Against Apollo, the Lady Colonels’ offense generated just one run as they fell to the E-Gals 7-1.

Apollo took a 1-0 lead with a run in the top of the third. Christian County came back in the bottom half of the inning and tied the game when Gracie Harned led off the inning with a double and then her courtesy runner Aaliyah Bell later scored on a sac bunt to even the score at 1-1.

But from there, it was all E-Gals. Apollo scored three in the fourth, two in the fifth, and one in the sixth to put the game away.

Christian County was only outhit by Apollo 8-7, but the E-Gals were efficient in generating runs off their hits.

Gracie Harned finished the game 2-4 with a double. Five other Lady Colonels had a hit in the game.

Harned was tagged with the loss in the circle. She went all seven innings, giving up seven runs, just five of them earned as Christian County was charged with two errors in the contest. She struck out seven and walked three.
