Hopkinsville High School has named Jacob Ezell its athletic director. He replaces Blake Leach who stepped down earlier this month.

Ezell has been with the high school since 2017 and has served as an assistant football coach and events manager for the school in addition to his teaching duties.

“We are excited to welcome Coach Ezell as our new athletic director at HHS,” said Principal Cindy Campbell. “Coach Ezell is an individual who has high energy and we are excited about this new opportunity for him. We look forward to him leading our athletic program moving forward.”

Ezell is a graduate of Hopkinsville High School. He played football for the Tigers from 2011–2014.  He began working as a full-time sub for HHS in 2017.  Coach Ezell transitioned to classroom teacher after obtaining his teaching credentials. He has also spent years on the sidelines as an assistant coach with the HHS football program.   His brother Chris is the head football coach at Trigg County.

“I would like to thank my family for allowing me to devote my time to various sports at HHS,” he said. “I would also like to thank the administrative team at HHS along with (District AD) Coach Stovall for giving me the opportunity to lead the athletics department at Hopkinsville High School. Growing up in the Tiger community as a player and fan, it feels like a dream come true to be involved with athletics at a different level. I am excited for this new journey as the school’s AD.”
