It look for a while like they might play first team to 20 runs. In a game that went past the midnight hour, the Heritage Christian Academy Warriors advanced in the KCAC state tournament Friday evening by outscoring Cornerstone Christian Academy 17-15.
HCA fell behind 6-0 after two innings, but then rallied to come all the way back to 6-6 heading into the bottom of the fourth.
Cornerstone hit the Warriors with another big inning in the bottom of the fourth to take an 11-6 lead. Cornerstone continued to hold a five-run lead at 12-7 after five innings.
The Warriors rally got underway in the top of the 6th as they scored four runs to close to within 12-11. Collin Outland got things started with an RBI single. HCA then scored three runs on bases-loaded walk and a Cornerstone error.
The Warriors got to the lead in the top of the 7th by scoring four runs to go up 15-12. Two of the three runs in the inning were scored on another Cornerstone fielding miscue.
In the bottom of the inning, it was Cornerstone’s turn to rally with a string of three straight hits and a Heritage error as the game headed off to extras at 15-15.
In the 8th, the Warriors scored on a Cornerstone error and then added an insurance run on an RBI single from Cadyn Travis to take the 17-15 lead.
Bradley Boyd then set Cornerstone down in order to close out the win.
Collin Outland finished the game 3-6 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Bradley Boyd was 1-2 with 2 RBIs and 3 runs scored. Cadyn Travis ended up 1-4 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored.
Boyd picked up the win in relief for the Warriors, going the final inning, striking out two and walking none.

really happy with the guys we’ve added so far we need some pf’s or 1 or 2 centers and then i feel this portal class will round out very well. go coach pope and go big blue .
