One rough inning was all that separated the University Heights Academy Blazers from 3rd ranked McCracken County Saturday in Paducah. The Mustangs scored all three of their runs in the 5th inning as they turned back a big effort from the Blazers with a 3-0 win.

McCracken County started Will Fox held the Blazers to five hits over six innings of work. He struck out six and walked none. Mustang reliever Weston Miller pitched a perfect seventh inning, throwing three strikeouts to close the deal.

The Blazers were there own worst enemy at times in the field. The Blazers were charged with four errors on the day. The issues in the field negated a big effort on the mound from Bryson Turner. Turner went six strong innings, giving up three runs, none of them earned, on five hits, striking out three and walking one.

It was an error with one out in the bottom of the 5th that opened the door for the Mustangs to score their three runs. Caden Kern followed the error with an RBI single and that was followed by an RBI triple from Kendrick Dunning.

Jaiden Miles had two hits in the game for the Blazers. Courtland Gibson, Jackson Flynn, and Aiden Jones added one hit each.

The loss drops the Blazers to 16-9 for the year. UHA is set to be back in action Thursday night in a big district doubleheader against the Hopkinsville Tigers.
