A tough trip south of the border for the Todd County Central Rebels Saturday. Kirkwood scored the final 9 runs of the game as the Cobras rolled to an 11-2 win.
The game was tied at 2-2 when Kirkwood came up in the bottom of the third. The Cobras scored three in the third and one in the fourth to pull out to a 6-2 lead. Kirkwood then sealed the win with five more runs in the bottom of the 6th inning.
Kirkwood had taken an early 2-0 lead in the contest with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first.
The Rebels battled back in the top of the 2nd to tie the game thanks to two hit batters and a walk to lead off the inning.
Zach Robinson and Hayden Strader led the Rebels at the plate, with both going 2-3 in the game.
The Rebels were only outhit 8 to 7 and both teams had their issues in the field, being charged with three errors each.
Grady Reding was charged with the loss on the mound for Todd County Central. Reding went 5 2/3 innings, giving up 10 runs, only four of them earned, however. He struck out four and walked three.
The Rebels drop to 7-12 with the loss. They are back in action Monday evening when they host Logan County in a 13th District game.
