Quarterback Brock Vandagriff has impressed Kentucky teammates and coaches since transferring from Georgia. However, that’s no surprise to long-time Georgia fan Mary Alice Gilbert who watched him play in high school in Georgia.
“He is a phenomenal guy,” she said. “I saw him play for several years in high school and he has quite an arm. He is also very smart and knows how to get out of the pocket if needed.
“He’s a very classy, Christian young man. He lives his faith and I just think he is a really good player. In high school he was so much fun to watch. He could throw the ball so well. He won all but one game his junior year and then won them all his senior year.”
She felt he should have been the starting quarterback at Georgia last year and thought he might to go Auburn or Oklahoma before landing at Kentucky where he’s expected to be the starter next season.
“I would like to see him beat Georgia and he is only one I would like to see ever do that because I am a Georgia fan,” she said. “I know they have a really good quarterback at Kentucky now and I think he will be great.
“He gets along with all his teammates. He is very likable and sociable. He’s just a great guy and fans will love him. Very friendly, very gracious, very honest. I know that’s the way he is because he’s always been that way. I hate that he is not at Georgia but I know he’s going to do great at Kentucky.”

He is the key to elevating UK out of the current slump – 2 consecutive 7-win seasons w/2 bowl losses.
UK has a Top 10 QB & probably a Top 4 QB who needs the talented receivers to not drop passes & to be playmakers after catching the ball.
10 wins is only talk but if UK has any shot at it, this talented complete player will be the key.
I think he’s the best Quarterback Kentucky has ever had. You will see what I’m saying after a couple of games. He’s very accurate. He has a soft touch when its needed and a rocket arm when its needed as well. Brown and Brown Stephens need to really work on their hands. Both of them had alot of dropped passes. I think they will clean that up this year. I think Barion Brown would think about where he was going to go when he caught it. You have to catch it first then have a quick enough mind to know what your gonna do as soon as you catch the ball. This is common for freshman and sometimes sophomores. The game will slow down to him this year and I think he has his best year yet. I just hope whoever we play kicks the ball to him. One more kickoff return for a touchdown he breaks the SEC record for Kickoff returns. He led the nation last year with 36 yards per kick off return he had incredible vision of the field and it will be even better this hear. I think he easily returns 2 or 3 to the house this year and shatters the record. Key is a more complete receiver but Brown is the fastest receiver I’ve ever seen. If he even gets a little space he’s gone. I’ve heard from spring practice he’s more strong this year which should help him get more yards after the catch and he’s a little bit faster which is hard for !e to believe but it could be true because of how much he’s dedicated hi!self to getting his body ready. Brown Stephens is going to surprise some people this year. I think he’s the dark horse to have a great season. Fred Farrier will be a very reliable target as well. Maclin is going to cut the defense up at the slot. He’s better than Robinson from last year. He’s stronger and a little more fast. I’m so excited about football this year. We are going to be a team that can compete with anybody. I’m calling for 10-2. But we could easily be 9-3 or 11-1. Texas and Georgia are the 2 losses I see. But hear me out I think we actually beat one of them who it is I don’t know. Maybe we surprise Texas who might overlook us because were not a big name football team yet but we are right on the brink of being that. If we can go 10-2 with those 2 losses we can still make the college football playoff this year. The Georgia game is going to be huge. We have 2 Georgia Transfers who are very very good players. Its good we have one on defense and one on offense. Both of them are going to get the team ready to play Georgia. I think we beat Florida South Carolina and Tennessee this year. I’m calling 6-2 in the SEC and Mayne 7-1 if we knock one of them off. We will see. Bush Hamdan was a steal he’s more passionate about the offense than Liam was in KY opinion. Liam had one foot in and one foot out. Hamdan is locked all the way in and loves what he does. He will win the team over. Plus I love the tempo. We should run about 10-20 more offensive plays a game this year. I’m super excited.
