A pair of Calloway County pitchers combined to hold visiting Hopkinsville hitless on Wednesday, and an eight-run first inning sent the Lady Lakers on their way to a 15-0 four-inning victory.

Calloway snapped a four-game skid to improve to 7-12 while Hopkinsville remains winless ahead of a matchup with Thomas Nelson on Saturday.

Three walks and five hit-by-pitches, including four straight, doomed the Lady Tigers in the bottom of the first.  Calloway’s Preslee Phillips opened the inning with a triple and Kallie Franklin bunted her way on for the Lady Lakers’ only hits of the frame.

Calloway added five runs in the second without the need of a hit before Hoptown’s Elizabeth Smith pitched around three walks to hold the Lady Lakers scoreless in the third.  After loading the bases on a pair of walks and Emerson Herndon’s single, Calloway ended the game with runs on a walk and a wild pitch with no outs in the bottom of the fourth.

Hailee Jones worked a scoreless first inning to earn the win in the circle, issuing a single walk and striking out two.  Jaylee McLeod pitched the remaining three frames with a walk and five strikeouts.

Audrey Overbey led the Lady Lakers at the plate with two RBI, and Herndon, Hannah Crouch, and Gabriella Yocum each drove in a run.
