It was an impressive way to put an end to a 3-game losing skid. The Heritage Christian Academy Lady Warriors used a 10-run sixth inning to blow open their game Tuesday with South Haven Christian on the way to a 22-7 road win.

After falling behind 3-0 early, the Lady Warriors scored 10 straight runs over the second and third innings to go up 10-3. The big stretch during that run included consecutive hits from Rachel Robson, Kailyn Johnson, Kennedy Hughes, and Madison Warren.

After South Haven cut the lead to 10-4 in the bottom of the 4th, HCA came back with two runs in the top of the fifth. Madison Warren’s triple was the key hit of the inning.

South Haven got one of those runs back in the bottom of the fifth, only to see the Lady Warriors put the game away in the sixth with a ten-run explosion. The first 10 batters in the inning reached base for Heritage. South Haven also had trouble finding the plate as pitchers gave up 11 walks in the inning.

South Haven would score 2 runs in the bottom half of the inning but that was not enough to avoid the run-rule finish.

Rachel Robson led Heritage, going 3-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Kailyn Johnson, Kennedy Hughes, Madison Warren, Kylynn Tudor, and Diem Thompson, all had two hits each for the Lady Warriors.

HCA took advantage of 19 walks, two hit batters, and two South Haven errors.

Kennedy Hughes picked up the win in the circle for HCA, going six innings and giving up 7 runs on 16 hits, striking out five and walking none.

Heritage improves to 6-8 with the win. The Lady Warriors are back in action Saturday when they host Warren Central.
