Lyon County edged University Heights Academy 4-3 in Thursday’s tennis match at Ruff Park, which featured a two-hour doubles match.
Ashton Grace and Emily Davis of UHA battled Lyon County’s Allie Holt and Bailey Breitrick for three sets. Grace and Davis took the first set 6-4 before Holt and Breitrick battled back to take the second set 6-1 and the third set 6-2.
After a short rest, Davis took the singles court and defeated Lyon County’s Jackie Hall 8-6.
Grace took on Lyon’s Josie Kaminski and fell 8-2.
In other singles play, Anna Crawford (LC) defeated Sarah Peebles (UHA) 8-1.
UHA’s Stella Del Valle defeated Lexi Holland 8-3 while Lyon County’s Anna White held off UHA’s Rachel Cavanah 8-5.
In doubles play, UHA’s Sarah Peebles and Stella Del Valle beat Lyon County’s duo of Jackie Hall and Ashanti Holland 8-1.
The region tournament begins the week of May 13 at Ruff Park.
