Youngest Trigg Fishing Team Advances to State

Trigg County’s youngest bass fishing duo will be on the water for next week’s state tournament after a top 10 finish at region on Friday.

Middle schoolers Eli Moore and Parker Hagewood caught the five-bass limit and weighed in at 12 pounds and 11 ounces. Just over 100 boats began the day on the water with Moore and Hagewood one of 22 boats to catch the full limit allowed.

Marshall County’s Clayton Wyatt, Ty Redden, and Bella Redden won the region title with a haul of 18 pounds, six ounces. Their catch was more than two pounds more than the second-place team from Edmonson County.

The top 20 teams advanced to the state tournament on Kentucky Lake on Friday and Saturday. This year, the cut line for advancing to state was 10 pounds, 12 ounces.

Gentry Hyde and Braxton Hargrove

Braxton Hargrove and Gentry Hyde finished in 35th place with two fish that weighed six pounds, 10 ounces. Their bag had a four-pound, eight-ounce bass, the third-largest fish caught in the tournament.

Stephen Erdmann and Wyatt Rogers

Wyatt Rogers and Stephen Erdmann finished in 57th place with one fish that weighed three pounds, six ounces.

Tyler Westfall and Darren McCraw

Darren McCraw and Tyler Westfall had a two-pound, 10-ounce fish that was good for 68th place.

Thomas Hawkins and Brayden Jones collected a two-pound, three-ounce fish that saw them finish in 72nd place.
