Not only is Chayse Gilliland an outstanding volleyball player for University Heights Academy, but she is also pretty good on the softball diamond as well. Gilliand pitched a five-inning no-hitter Friday night as the Lady Blazers cruised to a 12-2 win over the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers.

Gilliland did have some control issues at times but otherwise overpowered the Hopkinsville hitters. She finished with 14 strikeouts and 7 walks for UHA.

The Lady Blazers scored in every inning but the bottom of the third. They opened the game with a five-run bottom of the first and never looked back again.

UHA scored the 12 runs on just four hits, taking advantage of 8 walks and three Hopkinsville errors.

Kate Lynn Gibson, Madison Williams, Chayse Gilliland, and Gracie Ausenbaugh had one hit each for the Lady Blazers.

The Lady Blazers improve to 4-7 with the win, while Hopkinsville falls to 0-15.
