Lady Wildcats Go 3-0 at Best of the West

The Trigg County Lady Wildcats had a pretty good weekend at the Best of the West in Bowling Green. After winning Friday night, the Lady Wildcats picked up wins over Green County and Paducah Tilghman on Saturday to complete a perfect weekend in the event.

Tember Oliver picked up right where she left off Friday night as the Lady Wildcats took to the field for their first game Saturday in the Best of the West. Oliver allowed the Green County Dragons just two hits over seven innings as Trigg County cruised to a 9-0 win.

The Trigg County bats were at work early in this one. The Lady Wildcats scored in each of their first four at-bats to pull out to the nine-run lead.

Kady Fuller drove in MaKenna Hendricks with a sac fly in the first to make it 1-0.

A two run error from Green County played a big part of a three-run second inning as Trigg County extended the lead to 4-0.

Kiley Slone added an RBI single in the third to make it a 5-0 lead.

Slone and Rylee Hendricks had RBI singles as part of a four-run 4th inning as Trigg County blew the game open at 9-0.

Slone finished 2-3 with 3 RBIs. MaKenna Hendricks was 2-3 with two runs scored.

Trigg would end up outhitting Green County 9 to 2.

Tember Oliver struck out nine and walked none as part of her big game in the circle.

After blanking their first two opponents in Bowling Green, the Lady Wildcats capped off their appearance in the Best of the West by outscoring Paducah Tilghman 15-9 in a game that saw the two teams combine for 28 hits.

The game was not quite as close as the final score would indicate as the Lady Blue Tornado scored three of their runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to turn a nine-run deficit into the final six-run margin.

It was scoreless as the game entered the top of the third inning, but then the pace of things picked up in a big way. The Lady Wildcats scored five runs in the inning to take the lead, which they would never give up. The lead grew to 10-1 going into the bottom of the fifth. Trigg County led 12-4 going into the final inning.

Veyda Grinols ended up 4-5 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored for the Lady Wildcats. Kady Fuller was 2-4 with a double, an RBI, and a run scored. Madilynn Smith finished 2-4 with an RBI and a run scored.

Lily Eagleson went the distance in the circle, giving up 8 earned runs on 13 hits, striking out three and walking two.

With the pair of wins on Saturday, Trigg County will enter the final week of the regular season with a record of 17-14.
