Trigg County Duo Finish in 49th at State Bass Fishing Tourney

Trigg County’s bass fishing duo of Parker Hagewood and Eli Moore moved up the leaderboard on Saturday and finished in 49th place at the Operation Unite KHSAA State Tournament.

After catching two bass on Friday to stand in 55th place, the Trigg duo took three fish to the scales on Saturday at Kentucky Dam Village State Park and weighed in 7 pounds, 6 ounces for a two-day total of 11 pounds, 15 ounces.

It marked the first time Trigg County had two middle schoolers fish as a team at the state tournament.

The Muhlenberg County duo of Isaiah Smith and Spencer Shemwell set a state tourney record with 40 pounds and two ounces – the first time a team has topped 40 pounds. They finished over eight pounds ahead of second place Brandon Smith and Phoenix Parks of Covington Catholic. The difference was the largest between first and second place in the 10-year history of the state tournament.

Teams from Muhlenberg County have won six state titles in 11 years.
